In november 2008, Jean Mohr covered the International Media North-South Forum in the cultural center of Jaïpur Jawahar Kala Kendra (India) with debates, documentary films, exhibitions and cultural events.

Après un passage à La Comédie de Genève, cette exposition de photographies Camarada – Planète femmes aura lieu dans l’«Espace Galerie» de notre site de formation HES, du 28 avril au 30 mai. Cet espace sera donc réservé au magnifique travail photographique de Jean Mohr durant cette période. Ce sera également l’occasion pour les enseignant-e-s d’apporter des contributions aux étudiant-e-s, de favoriser des échanges dans divers modules de cours HES autour du thème de l’intégration des migrant-e-s en Suisse et en Europe (près d’un million et demi d’étranger-e-s vivent en Suisse, soit 21 % de la population).

Texte de Jean Mohr pour cette exposition:

D’une part, il y a des femmes en provenance des quatre coins du monde, avec un point commun : elles se retrouvent à Genève, un peu perdues, piégées en quelque sorte, avec des problèmes de langue et de coutumes locales.
D’autre part, des femmes, souvent bénévoles, qui vivent et travaillent dans cette cité à la fois calviniste et internationale, et qui ont pris la décision un jour de venir en aide à ces migrantes en leur consacrant une partie de leur temps.
Et cela, en dehors de tout cadre politique ou religieux.
C’est ça le petit miracle « Camarada ».
Pour fêter le 25ème anniversaire de cette « institution », on m’a invité à réaliser un reportage photographique sur cette rencontre entre deux mondes, apparemment antinomiques.
Plaidait en ma faveur:
• mon âge respectable (figure du père)
• mon enfance à Genève en qualité d’étranger (bien que natif de la ville)
• mon parcours professionnel qui m’a permis de connaître la plupart des pays dont sont originaires les femmes du Centre.

It's a travelling exhibition which has been opened first in Jerusalem and then in Ramallah, Bethleem and Gaza, later on in Geneva at the Red Cross Museum and after in London, in Moscow, in Dunkerque, in Sofia, in Luxembourg and continue to travel to many different countries. Next soon in Polen. A book is published with the same title in french and english.

PHOTOSUISSSE is a collection of 28 photographers, who create their own visual worlds. It includes young shooting-stars as well as established figures, who have decisively influenced important developments of the past thirty years.
This fascinating survey is a tribute to contemporary Swiss photography and is presented in two complementary media :
- in film portraits on two DVDs the photographers introduce their world of personal images, generously allowing insight into their creative process;
- the book concentrates on the photography itself showing important works by each exponent in a musée imaginaire.

PHOTOSUISSSE Book and DVD has been published in four languages, french, german, italian and english on the initiative of the Swiss TV channels SRG-SSR-TSI. The Swiss Fondation for Photography played an important role in providing specialist knowledge. Institutions from the different regions in Switzerland -the Musée de l'Elysée in Lausanne, the Museo Cantonale di Lugano and the Fotomuseum Winterthur - assisted the producers of PHOTOsuisse.

Jean Mohr

Beside his work as a photo-reporter, Jean Mohr went on searching in a more aesthetical aeria. After the exhibition "The other memorie" in the Rath Museum of Geneva, where he was presenting a range of aesthetical researches in colour he is actually working more and more in this field.

- South of France:: a subjective approach of South of France by two Swiss citizens. Texts by Serge Schmidt, Photos by Jean Mohr. This work is finished waiting for a publisher.

- Out of way: pictures made in marge of some travelling exhibitions and public speeches in different countries.

- Natural installations: interactions between contemporary art and daily life). Project of exhibition (color and black and white) searching a space to welcome this exhibition.
